This is the problem that I was facing: I wanted to combine an old video file (in .AVI format) that I have taken with my 2001 digital camera and a new video file (in .MP4 format) of 2022 into one and the same video file (in .MP4 format).

Here is what has happened: after importing the old .AVI file into my video editing program, this file cannot be added to the timeline and no other files can be imported.
